The IAAP Outreach Working Party invites you to support an important initiative bringing therapeutic care to children in Caracas, Venezuela.

Experienced colleagues from Colombia are introducing Expressive Sandwork to a group of children aged 6–12 who attend an educational centre in Caracas, a city recently affected by an earthquake. The children come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and would otherwise have little or no access to this kind of psychological support.

Expressive Sandwork is a therapeutic approach developed within the framework of the International Association for Expressive Sandwork (IAES), whose President is Eva Pattis Zoja. This project will mark the first time Expressive Sandwork is offered in Venezuela.

Mónica Pinilla and Eduardo Carvallo, Trainers of Trainers, will provide theoretical and experiential training to a group of volunteer facilitators, most of whom are candidates and analysts from the AVPA. Each facilitator will accompany the same child throughout the process, providing the continuity, trust, and sense of safety that are so important when working with children affected by difficult and potentially traumatic circumstances. Ingrid Sánchezwill support and accompany the group throughout the project.

Sessions will take place weekly at the educational centre, with each child working consistently with the same facilitator and sandbox.

For children facing both economic hardship and the emotional consequences of disruptive events, access to a safe and supportive therapeutic space can make a meaningful difference. Our collective support can make that space possible.

The IAAP Outreach Working Party is supporting this initiative, but additional funds are urgently needed to make the project possible. We therefore warmly invite IAAP members, colleagues, and friends to contribute.

Every donation, whatever its size, will help bring psychological care to children who would otherwise have no access to it.
