The International Association for Analytical Psychology, IAAP was founded in 1955 by a group of Jungian Analysts to sustain and promote the work of C. G. Jung. Today the IAAP recognizes 81 Group Members (societies) throughout the world, and around 4’000 analysts trained in accordance with standards established by the Association.
Since the late 1990’s the IAAP has provided training possibilities for people who live in places where no registered training to become a Jungian Analyst is available. Consequently the IAAP has now training facilities and qualified Jungian Analysts in all continents.
The IAAP supports projects provided by Jungian Analysts, candidates and routers supporting victims of
natural disasters, pandemics, conflict, poverty, and oppression.

The International Association for Analytical Psychology (IAAP) expresses its heartfelt solidarity with our colleagues, members, and all those affected by the recent earthquake in Venezuela.
During this difficult time, our thoughts are with everyone who has suffered loss, uncertainty, or hardship, and we extend our sincere hopes for the safety, recovery, and resilience of the Venezuelan people and our Jungian community.
This month, I would like to highlight three important initiatives, each inviting us to participate in a different way.
First, the Call for Papers for the upcoming IAAP Congress in Rome.
This is an invitation to share our ideas, clinical experience, research, and reflections with our international community.
Second, an appeal for solidarity. The donation button is now active to support Jungian colleagues in Venezuela providing therapeutic work to vulnerable children

IAAP member analysts have written a series of short articles to introduce the key concept of Analytical Psychology which is the formal name for Jungian psychology.
The word symbol comes from the Greek word “symballein”, which means to throw together, to join together. A symbol, which is “symbolon”, from its conceptual history, is something composed: the visible something of an invisible, ideal reality. The consequence: everything that exists in the world, everything that we experience, means something, has a deeper meaning, refers to something profound.
Jung noted the recurrence of certain images that he observed in himself, in his patients, in ancient art, and in myths and fairy tales. He postulated that we all have a common experience of universal images, shared since primordial times (referred to as “Urbild” in German), which he called archetypal images.
Jung’s fundamental insight was that the alchemists were projecting unconscious psychic processes onto the transformation of matter in the laboratory. In alchemy he saw the bridge between analytical psychology and early forms of thought, such as Gnosticism – to reach ‘a point outside our own time’ in order to understand how deep change occurs. Alchemy secretly operated in the background of collective consciousness for hundreds, if not thousands of years, without ever reaching its goal of creating gold from lead — this fact underlies its powerful psychological draw.

The Archive for Research in Archetypal Symbolism is a pictorial and written archive of mythological, ritualistic, and symbolic images from all over the world and from all epochs of human history. The ARAS website also offers a rich library of articles on art and symbols and a concordance that allows you to search C.G. Jung’s Collected Works by word or topic.
The IAAP is supporting the initiative by Jungian.Directory to build and maintain a searchable catalogue of articles published in Jungian and Jungian related journals. The catalogue is growing and will soon give access to the contents of close to 45 journals. A number of the journal are open access. Access the searchable catalogue here.
